LicencetoLocate

Methodology

How the files are kept

Licence to Locate is an unofficial, fan-built atlas of the real-world places used to film the 25 official EON Bond films, from Dr. No (1962) to No Time to Die (2021). It currently holds 320 locations. Each one records where the scene was shot and, where it differs, where the film says it is set.

Precision, honestly labelled

Not every location can be pinned to a doorstep. Rather than fake precision, every file carries one of three stamps:

Studio stages appear in the atlas for completeness but never in the game. Region-level files are also kept out of the game, so you're never scored against a guess of ours.

Standing in the right place

135 files carry a Stand here note: where to put your feet to frame the shot, written from maps, street-level imagery and visitors' reports. Every file also says whether the spot is public, ticketed, private or off-limits, so you know before you go.

Sources

Locations are compiled from production histories, published location guides, the long-running fan research community (MI6-HQ, the James Bond Dossier, Hunting Bond, On the Tracks of 007 and others), and cross-checked against maps and satellite imagery. Scene descriptions are our own paraphrases. Nothing here is copied from the films or their scripts.

Visiting

Many locations are private homes, working businesses or protected sites. Look from public ground, respect the people who live there, and don't climb anything Bond climbed.
